2024-09-17

On August 29, 2024, an event was held to publicly present the investment project “Development of water and wastewater infrastructure in Suceava County’’ with a total value of 275 million EURO; the representatives of the Beneficiary ACET S.A. (Water and Wastewater Regional Operator), of the County Council and of EPTISA – the project implementation participated in the event.
The project commenced in 2019, as part of the EU financed Large Infrastructure Operational Program which had 31.12.2023 as final eligibility deadline, hence ACET S.A. started the project phasing procedure, respectively the continuation and completion of investments through the new EU multi-annual financing Programme titled Sustainable Development Program, with the financing contract for phase II having been signed this year with the Ministry of European Funds Implementation, to cover almost 95% of the total investment.
According to Beneficiary’s representative speech  within the conference, this is the largest regional investment project in the last 30 years, involving 30 works contracts to be executed.
Dr. Eng. Constantin Alexandrescu, Deputy Managing Director of EPTISA Romania, presented the project’s concrete investments as follows: “In the end, 720 km of water and wastewater pipes will be installed. This is the distance between Suceava and Sibiu, back and forth. And every 5 kilometers you have to stop and build a water intake, a pumping station, a treatment plant, a connection…”. With this investment, 43,000 households will be connected to the centralized drinking water supply and wastewater systems, reaching 98% connection rate in the project area.
