Nanjing Hengjiang Avenue Expressway Project

The EPC bidding project of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area in 2018 is located in the core area of Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, starting from the river passage of Weisan Road in the north and ending at grounding point on the south side of Chengnan River Bridge in the south, with a total route length of about 7.2 kilometers. The urban expressway standard is adopted for the whole line, and the main and auxiliary roads are separated. The design speed of the main line is 80km/h, part of the road speed limit 60km/h, and the design speed of the auxiliary road is 50km/h.

Main Work Undertaken

JSTI is responsible for the feasibility and survey design, and BIM platform design.

Innovation Points

1. Combined with the buried depth and the tunnel cavity, the intensive design of the parking lot is carried out above the tunnel.

2. Nanjing’s first comprehensive shield pipe gallery, creating an underground “Smart Space”.

3. Design of micro-circulating road network: Subject to the construction conditions, it is impossible to set the intercommunication with the river-crossing passage, so the turning function between the expressways can be realized through the adjustment and construction of the micro-road network in combination with surroundings.

4. The project’s rapid adopts the combination of ground and tunnel, with two long tunnels and one node tunnel. The tunnel passing through the CBD is located under the underground space, with a tunnel length of about 2,480 meters and a maximum burial depth of about 27m.

Another long tunnel is lengthened for node tunnel reconstruction (1,100m after lengthening). The old tunnel is located on the upper section of the existing subway, and the tunnel is extended due to the engineering needs.

5. The whole line involves 1,529m of newly-built and reconstructed comprehensive pipe gallery, and 935m of shield pipe gallery is adopted when it passes through the river channel.
